There are several types of holidays that you can plan for during the year but none as enjoyable and memorable as a skiing holiday. During this time you can learn or hone your skiing skills or just spend some quality time with your family or your loved ones. Going on a skiing holiday requires for you to plan ahead on a few essential things such as airfare tickets, accommodations, transportation like car hire services or rail services, and of course a destination. Finding the right or perfect destination is one of the most important things that you need to think about when planning for an unforgettable vacation.
There are several superb ski slopes all over Europe that are considered to be some of the most exquisite and beautiful places to go to, and other places that can give you and your family a memorable skiing experience. When choosing a destination, take into account the amount of time you will be spending there and the number and age group of the people that you are travelling with. These factors greatly contribute to your choice of destination.
If you are only going to be spending a weekend or a few days at a resort then it would be best to find a ski resort that can allow you to experience as much snow and skiing as possible during your holiday. If your holiday is going to be for more than a weekend or a week, then you would want to be at a location that provides excellent amenities and entertainment. Skiing may be at the top of your list, but skiing holidays at places that have various shops, restaurants, and other entertainment spots are just as important. That way, when you are not on the slopes, you can fill your time with other enjoyable activities. If you are spending your winter holidays with your children, then choosing a resort that offers skiing lessons and other fun activities is essential. It is also important that you choose a destination safe enough so that your children can run around and have fun.
Once you made your decision on a destination, you now have to think about how you are going to get there. Most of the time, the cost of travel are much more expensive compared to the actual skiing. Because of this, you should scout for deals or packages on flights and accommodation. Here comes the importance of knowing where to look. Remember, if you can save money on airfare tickets, you will have more money to spend during your skiing holiday. Choosing the right accommodation is important as well. If you are looking to spending a lot of time on skiing, then you should choose a resort that is located near the slopes. An ideal skiing holiday package is one that is inclusive of lodgings and ski slope fees and yet reasonably priced.

If you are planning a Colorado family skiing and snowboarding vacation then there are many beautiful places that you can choose to go. One of the most popular places is the acres of terrain that are known as Keystone, Colorado. In this area you will be able to slide down the slopes at the Keystone Resort or even take a snow mobile ride through the back country.
Those who want to see even more of Colorado’s beauty and demanding ski trails can take the short drive to nearby Vail and Breckenridge. The best way to enjoy everything that Keystone has to offer is to book a comfortable vacation rental that is near the slopes. You have resorts, bed and breakfasts, condominiums, as well as private homes in the Keystone area.
The Keystone Resort offers world class skiing as well as a variety of trails that are perfect for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels. The Peru Express and Argentine lifts are found near the Keystone Village so after a short walk you can hit the slopes with very little effort. If you are new to either skiing or snowboarding don’t fret. There are actually bunny hills and ski schools that are very close as well, so you will have everything you need to ensure a fun experience with memories that will last a lifetime.

It’s one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand, and some would say the planet. And what better way to experience it than to go heli skiing in Wanaka. You can be choppered out to a remote mountain range feeling on top of the world and actually almost be physically there too!
It is a sport that has gained a lot of popularity in recent years, and is recommended only for confident advanced skiers as the terrain is often more complex and due to the remoteness an excellent level of fitness is preferred. It involves taking a helicopter out and away from the tracks everyone else uses to trails that are otherwise inaccessible, giving you a chance to ski on virgin snow in the middle of nowhere. It’s a clean and fresh environment with gorgeous snow to ski down on.
Only small groups go up to the remote slopes at a time, so it’s an amazing chance to really connect with a small group and enjoy the thrill. The helicopter will drop you off at the top, with a guide to lead you down, and then pick you up at the bottom. As the slopes are not groomed and are just like nature intended, special care does need to be taken to ensure your safety is looked after at all times.
Heli skiing in Wanaka is not for beginners at all. Because of the advanced level of the runs, it is really important you are honest with yourself about your ability and whether you are safe to try it. Try some of the black slopes at your local ski field. You need to be able to listen to directions and follow the guide as they will know some of the problem areas best.
Staff from the company will assess the trails on a regular basis, looking at avalanche risk and any other problems on a regular basis. However the risk is still higher in these areas, particularly as the helicopter can disturb the snow a little and loosen it up. Ask the company you are booking with about the procedures they put in place to make sure you are as safe as possible. A reputable place will have a plan for every eventuality.
Heli skiing in Wanaka is a perfect way to add some thrills (and non damaging spills) to your holiday, making it a memorable one that few can claim to have experienced. It’s your chance to see some of New Zealand at its finest, and have an amazing day on the snow.
